Bandung – The creativity of young people in West Java is endless. This time, a group of youths from the city of Bandung created an immersive technology application that was widely available abroad.
Through an application entitled Assemblr, ordinary people can be creative in making augmented reality (AR) as easy as drag and drop on mobile or desktop screens.
Assemblr CEO Hasbi Asyadiq sees that so far technologies such as AR and VR are still ‘very expensive’ and difficult to reach by ordinary people. Because, to create AR content, one needs to at least master the basics of three-dimensional modeling and coding, not to mention the cost of the equipment to make it.
“So the initial idea started from us believing that the future is in the form of content, not just text or video but something more interactive.
Full two-way, collaborative. We see the signs starting from the arrival of 5G, AR Glasses (AR glasses) are about to come too, we will see in the future the content type towards immersive technology, AR or VT,” said Hasbi when met by detikcom in his office, recently .
Therefore, said Hasbi, Assemblr is trying to democratize AR content creation without having to struggle with coding, as well as three-dimensional modeling.

Create Augmented Reality as Easy as Drag n Drop
The trick, users can download the Assembelr application on the iOS Playstore or Android Google Play or can also directly access the https://www.assemblrworld.com site.
On the site, users are presented with thousands of template models from various themes, the size or position of the available models can be adjusted as desired. Users can also add video content, annotations and sound on the Assemblr platform.
“It’s as easy as drag and drop, we want to democratize it, people can access and create their own AR content. Maybe someone is familiar with Canva or Powerpoint? If Canva and Powerpoint are 2D, Assemblr is 3D so people can create, insert 3D elements and animated, you can enter the interactivity, everything can be done easily,” said Hasbi who was born in Purwakarta, 1987.

After the user design is complete. the content can be directly executed into AR via iOS or Android-based phones. The results of the design can be shared with other users and interactively, so that it can also be implemented for the world of education.
Hasbi said, Assemblr users increased quite drastically during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is because teachers from within and outside the country who are gathered in the digital community have begun to adopt the technology presented by Assemblr. The teachers created educational materials in the form of video mockups, texts using 3D and AR technology.
“Content can be placed in the real world, real time, interactive, two-way and collaborative. We’ll see what fun they make for their students, it’s very interesting,” he said.
Loved Abroad
Start-up Assemblr, which was founded in 2019 in Dago, Bandung City, seems to be loved by users abroad. In fact, this application has been named the Playstore ‘App of The Day’ several times by Apple. Hasbi said that the exposure made the number of Assemblr organic users increase from various parts of the world.
Even on several occasions, Assemblr has also collaborated with international nature conservation NGOs, WWF and various national and multinational giant companies for the application of AR technology.
“Thanks to Apple, we as Apple Apps of The Day, world wide, many organic users from other countries besides Indonesia such as the US, Europe, Asia as well. So many people are exposed to Apps of The Day and they try it, from there the user base grows organically We don’t spend money on marketing, we don’t advertise all organic. Thank God we now have more than one million users, millions of content have been created,” said Hasbi.
He also ensures that Assemblr can be used for free, but to access richer content, there are indeed some elements that can only be accessed if you subscribe.
“Our users are not from among those who are technology literate, for example, but because it is easy to adopt, it is very broad, the demographics are also wide. We bring it closer to ordinary people. Previously this technology was expensive in quotes, needed resources, multi-discipline, if we want it, we are the ones who “Instead of forcing people to do that, we want to simplify that (AR) technology,” he said.
The plan, said Hasbi, is that Asssemblr will also enter the world of Metaverse. “Of course we are on the AR side,” he concluded.
